About the Role
Serve as a Health Care Specialist in the Army National Guard, providing emergency and ongoing medical care to civilians after natural disasters and to Soldiers in various settings.
Responsibilities
- Administer emergency medical treatment to casualties in the field
- Assist with outpatient and inpatient patient care
- Train Soldiers in Combat Lifesaver and First Responder courses
- Manage Soldiers' medical readiness, supplies, and equipment
Requirements
- Enlistment in the Army National Guard
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Ages 17-35
- Ability to pass a physical exam and meet legal standards
- Citizenship requirements
Skills & Qualifications
- Effective communication and ability to work under stress
- Interest in sciences such as biology, chemistry, psychology, and math
- Attention to detail and caring nature
- Willingness to obtain EMT certification from the National Registry
Training & Career Development
Complete 10 weeks of Basic Training and 16 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, gaining skills applicable to civilian healthcare careers such as EMT, medical assistant, or physician's assistant.
