Health Care Representative

Position Summary

The Health Care Representative will support medical office operations by actively performing in a variety of roles that combine both direct and indirect patient care. In this important front-line role, the selected candidate will proudly provide service to our patients with a warm greeting and perform administrative functions for the clinic or medical office through knowledge of medical terminology and applications.

Requirements

• Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; a minimum of one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office, medical clinic, or in mental health office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with medical terminology; experience in scheduling, screening, and confirming medical appointments using a computerized information system; current or prior experience obtaining/checking authorizations; experience scanning documents and handling a multi-line phone system.
• One year of work-related experience in a medical office clinical setting with medical terminology preferred.
• Must have a strong desire and/or experience to work with a patient population that is diverse socially, financially, and ethnically.
• Must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision completing assignments accurately.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a high school education and one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office, medical clinic, or in mental health office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Desired qualifications include familiarity with medical terminology, experience in scheduling, screening, and confirming medical appointments, current or prior experience obtaining/checking authorizations, experience scanning documents and handling a multi-line phone system, and one year of work-related experience in a medical office clinical setting with medical terminology preferred.

Work hours are typically 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM but may vary as necessary to accommodate clinic operations.

Summary of Physical Demands

The job requires significant physical effort and involves carrying charts and medical equipment, assisting in ambulating and lifting patients.

Summary of Health Risks

• Exposure to human blood, serum, and other body fluids;
• Materials covered under Universal Precautions;
• TB risk or work within three (3) feet of patients in a health care setting;
• Wear a respirator.
