Responsibilities
- Aids patients with feeding, drinking, ambulation, grooming, toileting, dressing, socialization, and unit-specific technical skills.
- Reinforces or assists in educating and teaching patients/significant others as delegated by the professional care provider.
- Captures, reports, and documents data related to direct patient care activities.
- Supports indirect patient care activities such as maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe patient care environment, performing companion care, managing housekeeping tasks, transporting patients, and accompanying physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Performs unit-specific duties and additional clerical tasks as needed, including stocking and maintaining supplies, communicating with hospital staff, processing paper and electronic orders, scheduling appointments, managing admits, discharges, and transfers, monitoring the cardiac monitor, and notifying staff of any abnormal heart rhythms.
Qualifications
- Three months from completion of RN program to obtain an RN license, or immediate CNA certification if an RN license is not obtained within three months.
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
- One of the following licenses: Current Nursing Assistant certification with the State of Utah, or current enrollment in an approved nursing education program.
