Health Benefits Specialist I - Enrollment Department- On Site Work Schedule - 1K Sign On Bonus

About the role

The primary purpose of this role is to assist patients in applying for various health resources including Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and Veterans Administration benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Interview/review referred patients to determine eligibility for alternate health resources.
  • Aid patients and their families in the application process by conducting interviews, over the phone or in person, to assess eligibility for health programs.
  • Communicate updates on application status and required documents to patients and families.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members and external agencies to ensure consistent and professional customer service.
  • Maintain accuracy in electronic health records and other databases.
  • Ensure patient records are confidential and handled appropriately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience, within the last 12 months, working in an office setting with health insurance experience, including Medicaid, Medicare, or the Health Insurance Marketplace.
  • Experience with data entry and customer service.
  • Ability to conduct outpatient screenings for referred patients.

  • Teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including knowledge of applications used in an office setting.
  • Customer service experience, particularly with terminally ill, homeless, or those requiring special assistance.
