About the role
The primary purpose of this role is to assist patients in applying for various health resources including Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and Veterans Administration benefits.
Responsibilities
- Interview/review referred patients to determine eligibility for alternate health resources.
- Aid patients and their families in the application process by conducting interviews, over the phone or in person, to assess eligibility for health programs.
- Communicate updates on application status and required documents to patients and families.
- Work collaboratively with other team members and external agencies to ensure consistent and professional customer service.
- Maintain accuracy in electronic health records and other databases.
- Ensure patient records are confidential and handled appropriately.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience, within the last 12 months, working in an office setting with health insurance experience, including Medicaid, Medicare, or the Health Insurance Marketplace.
- Experience with data entry and customer service.
- Ability to conduct outpatient screenings for referred patients.

- Computer proficiency, including knowledge of applications used in an office setting.
- Customer service experience, particularly with terminally ill, homeless, or those requiring special assistance.
