About the role

This role will be based in Minneapolis and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office. As the Health & Benefits Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of employee benefits for our clients. In this dynamic position, you will perform in-depth analyses for larger, complex clients, collaborating with Mercer subject matter experts to deliver exceptional results. Responsibilities

  • Provide financial, contract, and administrative analysis while managing portions of client projects and addressing ad hoc operational requests
  • Support financial review and funding analysis, including underwriting, data analytics, and collaboration with actuaries

  • Contribute to client strategy by interpreting benchmark data, presenting insights, and ensuring plan and program changes align with client objectives
  • Manage project quality, timelines, and deliverables
  • Coordinate internal specialty resources to ensure deliverables meet client goals, deadlines, and professional standards
  • Lead preparation, peer review, and delivery of clear, concise, client-facing communications and reports
  • Work directly with clients to manage the request for proposal (RFP) process with health insurance carriers and internal analysts
  • Establish and manage carrier and vendor relationships to support benefits administration, compliance, and plan implementation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-4 years of experience in health & benefits, preferably in a consulting environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize based on urgency
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and adaptability to varying personalities and work styles
  • A proactive mindset with strong initiative and thoughtful, analytical thinking
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Pay

The applicable base salary range for this role is $68,500 to $137,000. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.

Schedule

All Marsh colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one "anchor day" per week on which their full team will be together in person.
