Health Benefits Actuarial Consultant

Responsibilities

• Work with junior and senior level actuaries in determining the applicable financial implications associated with employee benefit security programs such as pension plans and post-retirement healthcare plans.
• Review Actuarial Valuations under required governmental regulations and applicable accounting standards for pension and post-retirement healthcare plans.
• Monitor and review items related to annual compliance for qualified pension plans.
• Review of pension plan benefits certifications.
• Use of standard spreadsheet tools and development of non-standard spreadsheets for special projects.
• Review annual update of valuation system software and programming for new plans.
• Review and/or draft routine correspondence for review by senior level actuaries.
• Respond to client inquiries and attend some meetings with senior level actuaries.
• Aid in the development of project work plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure client satisfaction.
• Aid team in special consulting projects as needed.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or Economics.
• ASA/FSA/EA designation or significant progress towards credentials.
• Minimum three to five years related work experience.
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to be highly organized and show an attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize work assignments and multitask.
• Analyze problems and issues and implement solutions or present possible solutions to supervisor.
• Display a high level competency with Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as personal computer skills and other industry specific software.

Commensurate with experience plus potential for annual merit increase.
