Health Assistant Float/Substitute Position Title: Health Assistant – Float/Substitute Reports To: Building Principal and Corporation Nurse Employment Type: On-Call / As Needed Position Summary The Health Assistant Float/Substitute provides health office support and student care coverage throughout the corporation on an as-needed basis. This position assists in maintaining a safe and healthy school environment by providing basic first aid, administering medications, supporting student health services, and communicating effectively with school staff, students, and families. Qualifications Medical certification preferredExperience working with children or in a healthcare setting preferredStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all timesAbility to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations Essential Job Functions Provide first aid and emergency care to studentsImplement state-mandated screening programsReview and evaluate immunization recordsAdminister medications in accordance with corporation policy and proceduresMaintain communication and documentation pertinent to the nursing officeAssist with the development and implementation of student health care plansSupport health promotion for students, staff, parents, and the communityMaintain complete confidentiality regarding student and staff informationDemonstrate dependable attendance to meet the health needs of studentsTravel between school buildings as needed to provide coverage and supportComplete any other duties assigned by the Building Principal or Corporation Nurse Additional Information Position is on-call/as needed with no guaranteed hoursDaily assignments may vary by building and student health needsMust be flexible and available to respond to substitute coverage requests
