About the role
The Health and Security Assistant (HASA) is a permanent full-time position at St George Mental Health Service, part of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD).
Responsibilities
- Immediate response to critical incidents
- Escorting patients to other departments/appointments
- Assisting with the cleanliness of the unit
- Aid in the daily unit activity program
- Ensure daily environmental searches of the unit are conducted
- Test and record duress alarms on a routine basis
- Responsible for checking and maintaining unit equipment and ensuring it is in good working order
- May work in any of the Mental Health Inpatient Units as needed
Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of mental health issues and ability to work in an acute mental health setting
- Commitment to interacting with patients and facilitating unit activities
- Demonstrated ability to perform duties and tasks with minimal supervision
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective teamwork
- Good written/verbal skills and strong computer and keyboard skills
- Current 1A Security license
- Experience in security and/or health industry, and knowledge of duress alarm systems
- Sound knowledge of WH&S issues and strict confidentiality

Pay
$68,858.49 per annum, plus superannuation
Schedule
10-hour shifts covering mornings, midday, and afternoons, with weekends and public holidays included, and attractive penalty rates.
