Health and Safety Supervisor
HPC Industrial, powered by Clean Harbors, is seeking a Health and Safety Supervisor to work at a client facility in Sulphur, LA.
About the role
The Health and Safety Supervisor inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. This role oversees ongoing work sites to ensure personnel comply with company and client safety requirements while promoting a positive safety culture. Responsibilities include emergency response and site remediation in all types of weather conditions. This position is ideal for transitioning military personnel looking to leverage their skills in a civilian role.
Working environment: Industrial setting – Refinery, Petro-Chemical, Utilities, Pulp and Paper Mills, etc.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
- Conduct health and safety inspections, audits, and interventions; investigate, oversee, and observe safety conditions; and manage safety permits and required paperwork.
- Manage employee safety training programs and coordination.
- Perform Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA); manage safety equipment inspection, testing, and supply.
- Provide leadership and guidance on Clean Harbors-specific processes and expectations.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents; manage injury and accident follow-up and reporting.
- Coach, manage, and supervise teams to enhance their safety responsibility and performance.
- Establish relationships with the client safety department.
- Demonstrate proficiency in a wide variety of assignments and direct personnel in operational procedures.
- Inspect assigned work areas and equipment to identify compliance issues.
- Document safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures/practices and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2+ years of progressively responsible and related experience in an industrial setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of First Aid, Confined Space and Fall Protection, and DISA standards is preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Federal Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Construction Site Safety Tech certification (CSST).
- BCSP or other professional certification (OHST, CHST, SMP, ASP, CSP, COSS, COSM, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of regulations.

The posted salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for this role. Final compensation may vary based on factors such as location, experience, skills, and business needs. In addition to the base salary, some roles may be eligible for bonus or incentive compensation.
