About the role

Manages plant safety and risk programs to ensure a safe and accident-free work environment.

Implements safety concepts to provide an accident-free workplace.

Plans and/or delivers programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices.

Promotes plant safety by working with all departments to analyze current situations and recommend safety improvements.

Analyzes accident data to identify trends and accident types that can be prevented.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing regulations and ensuring compliance
  • Assisting with incident reports and corrective actions
  • Reviewing and developing Joint Safety Analysis (JSA) for all plant positions annually
  • Maintaining inventory of plant required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Maintaining Health & Safety Programs
  • Developing and enhancing Policies and Procedures through on-the-floor presence and employee engagement
  • Conducting inspections and audits
  • Working with Human Resources to assist with Worker's Compensation programs
  • Maintaining up-to-date information by attending Safety Related Training Courses
  • Providing Safety Training at new hire orientations
  • Facilitating Plant Safety Meetings
  • Evaluating and presenting Safety-related plant projects
  • Participating in and facilitating project meetings to identify safety risks ahead of project dates
  • Evaluating new equipment for safety hazards and developing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Analyzing historical data to identify root causes and patterns in safety
  • Following up on corporate safety audit action items and managing the action log
  • Conducting LOTO and Confined Space Audits, Fall Protection Inspections, and maintaining associated programs
  • Risk Assessment and site preparedness for emergency action plans
  • Preparing and participating in corporate safety audits
  • Safety Management Systems (SDS, Safe Link, Brady) liaison and management follow-up
  • Providing leadership in all areas of Health & Safety and performing additional duties as required
  • Supervising environmental compliance programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines
  • Evaluating environmental problems to develop methods and equipment to maintain regulatory compliance
  • Staying current with emerging environmental control technology and trends (Best Available Control Technology - BACT)

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Safety Management, Industrial Risk Management, Environmental, or the equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.

2 or more years of relevant experience in food/dairy manufacturing preferred.

Ability to read and interpret OSHA standards.

Ability to develop relationships and effectively influence at all levels internally (i.e. management teams) and externally (regulators).

Strong strategic thinking skills with broad-based business acumen and experience, with proven ability to identify opportunities and lead change initiatives.

Ability to train and motivate others to champion Health and Safety success.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, prioritization, time management, organizational, and analytical skills.

Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Programmable Logic Controllers, and project & manufacturing software.

Pay

Salary Range: $70,050 to $91,950

"Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills and training."
