Health and Safety Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements such as Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), Nevada Mine Safety and Training Section (MSATS), and environmental agencies.
• Conducts routine workplace inspections and safety audits.
• Identifies hazards and recommends corrective actions.
• Supports incident investigations and prepares detailed reports.
• Maintains safety records, logs, and documentation.
• Collaborates with management to improve safety culture and reduce risks.
• Tracks and reports key health and safety performance metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience
• 3+ years’ experience in a mining, heavy construction or industrial health & safety role
• Certified MSHA Instructor (IS) considered an asset
• Basic working knowledge of surface mining and construction activities
• Knowledge of MSHA 30 CFR and environmental compliance standards
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
• Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail
• Able to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and adapt to changing priorities
• Effective communication and people skills to collaborate with team members, contractors, and regulatory agencies
• Excellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadership qualities
