Health Advocate

About the role

The Health Advocate reports to the Study Director and works closely with the research team and patient care teams. The role is located at 63 York Street, New Haven.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment & Enrollment: Professionally recruits, screens blood pressure, and interviews community members. Coordinates recruitment efforts and ensures timely enrollment.
• Communication & Collaboration: Communicates with potential and active study participants, healthcare providers, and research staff. Collaborates with the research team, PCPs, pharmacy, and CHWs.
• Data & File Management: Processes, documents, and accurately enters information into the database (REDCap/Epic). Ensures adequate enrollment supplies are available.
• Monitoring & Follow-up: Arranges and documents follow-up appointments and phone calls. Tracks study activities and reports progress to leadership.
• Community Relations: Recommends ideas to enhance the study. Exhibits excellent customer relations with culturally diverse patients and partners.

Requirements

• Required Skills & Abilities: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational and data accuracy, adaptability, independence, and technical proficiency.
• Bilingual Proficiency: Fluent in both English and Spanish.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: 3 years of experience with a High School Degree, 2 years with an Associate Degree, or 1 year with a Bachelor's Degree.

Skills

• Preferred Skills & Abilities: Experience working in community-engaged programs and research projects; demonstrated interest in addressing health inequities from a social determinants of health perspective.
