About the role

The incumbents assigned to this classification will be participants in an approved Internship program at Duke Raleigh Hospital, a campus of Duke University Hospital. The program aims to provide young leaders with exposure and project experience in healthcare administration.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to projects and departments in which they work, and Duke Health as a whole.
  • Build knowledge and skills in a health care setting with organizational responsibilities ranging from planning and policy analysis to program development and implementation.
  • Work on projects submitted by Vice Presidents or other designated leadership within the Clinical Services Unit (CSU) or department, under their supervision.
  • Present projects to senior leaders in the Health System at the end of the program.
  • Provide feedback on the internship program and receive developmental feedback from the leader(s)/preceptor.

Level Characteristics: An ability to interact positively with people of all ages and backgrounds, including patients and their loved ones, hospital staff, volunteers or members of the general public. An ability to communicate effectively. Good organizational abilities with a strong attention to detail. A knowledge of the skills important to customer service, event promotion and implementation, researching and delivering a creative project, and the willingness to learn and develop further knowledge and skills in these areas. Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School graduation and completion of one year of a bachelor's degree program is required. Preferred area of course concentration in hospital administration, business administration or public health or other closely related field.
