Healing Center Peer Specialist- 2nd Shift

Responsibilities

  • Establish a healing and professional relationship with residents.
  • Transports residents to various appointments and activities.
  • Affords assistance to residents in identifying their personal interests, goals, and strengths.
  • Demonstrates understanding of ethics and boundaries.
  • Affords assistance in problem-solving.
  • Maintains resident's records, program records, and other material as required.
  • Utilizes active listening techniques and motivational interviewing when communicating with residents.
  • Identifies barriers to full participation in community resources and develops strategies to overcome these barriers with mental health and/or recovery.
  • Utilizes trauma-informed care and is willing to share personal experiences with mental health and/or recovery.
  • Provides resources to help with residents' needs.
  • Provides support and advocates for clients.

Requirements

  • Achieved and maintained absolute sobriety for a minimum of two (2) continuous years.
  • A High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A valid, clean driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age.
  • CPR certification and WI Peer Support training will be provided and as is required as a condition of employment.
  • Successfully passed all applicable background checks and drug screens.
  • FCP complies with all CDC vaccine and testing recommendations for healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

  • One year’s work experience in halfway house, residential facility, or similar setting with AODA and mental health population preferred.
