Head Wrestling Coach (Girls) - Sumter High

About the Role

This is a supplemental position for the 2026-2027 school year at Sumter High School, reporting to the Principal.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of coaching experience.
• Must possess or demonstrate the qualifications to obtain South Carolina educator certification.
• Alternative qualifications may be considered as deemed acceptable by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and assists the principal in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff members.
• Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
• Ensures the health and safety of student athletes, including proper safety and first aid procedures, and emergency protocols.
• Verifies that all participants have a valid physical examination before participation.
• Promotes and maintains positive relationships with parents and student athletes, including conducting parent meetings prior to the season.
• Ensures the sports program complies with the rules and regulations of the school, District, South Carolina High School League, affiliated Conference, and Region, as well as all legal requirements.
• Communicates all policies, rules, procedures, and requirements to team members.
• Ensures appropriate behavior of assigned coaching staff, players, and other team personnel at all times.
• Attends scheduled coaches' meetings and rules clinics punctually.
• Promotes the sports program through fundraisers, youth camps, team camps, and other initiatives.

Pay

Supplemental pay based on credentials and experience in accordance with the district-approved pay scale.
