About the role

The Head Varsity Wrestling Coach will be responsible for all aspects of team organization, including practice planning and administrative tasks. The position is a stipend, part-time position that is not eligible for employee benefits during the season.

Responsibilities

  • Practice planning and match oversight, including teaching skill techniques and helping athletes prepare for competitive events.
  • Mentoring and instructing players in skill development, character development, and teamwork.
  • Communicating with parents/guardians relevant information regarding games, practices, and other team commitments.
  • Commitment to the support and development of those students with an ability and/or desire to compete at the collegiate level.
  • Attend all BB&N practices, at home and away meets, in-school events, and other related athletics functions.
  • Model positive behavior, maintain a supportive environment, and exhibit a high level of professionalism.
  • Work collaboratively with other coaches, parents, and community members.
  • Solicit assistance should emergencies arise.

Requirements, Skills, And Competencies

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire athletes to perform at their highest level.
  • A commitment to academic success and character development.
  • A passion for the sport and working with middle and high school-aged students.
  • A commitment to an inclusive and equitable approach to all student athletes.
  • Effective and responsible communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A demonstration of high standards of professional conduct with strong interpersonal skills to handle disputes, challenges, or conflicts that may arise among athletes.
  • The ability to adjust coaching methods based on individual athletes' needs, team dynamics, and changing circumstances.

Benefits

This position is a stipend, part-time position that is not eligible for employee benefits during the season.

Pay

A season-long stipend of $8,500 - $10,000*

Schedule

  • Upper School Coaching Schedule: Weekly practices occur during the time frame of 3:45 pm to 6:30 pm, with occasional morning practice.
  • Holidays when school is not in session include: Thanksgiving, Winter Break, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day & Day After.
