Head Varsity Coach - Girls Volleyball

About the role

The Head Girls Varsity Volleyball Coach is responsible for coaching, character development, and providing direction to student athletes to achieve a high level of skill and appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Coach and develop student athletes
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents, and community members
• Manage a class in a professional manner
• Communicate and interact effectively via email and phone
• Supervise athletes at all times during practices, transport to games, and ensure safe environments
• Model good sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct
• Plan, organize, and conduct tryouts for the volleyball program
• Consult with the Athletic Director regarding off-season training programs
• Complete required safety training for basic first aid and injury prevention
• Adhere to KIPP’s health and safety guidelines

Requirements

• Experience/Education/Licensing: 2 to 3 years of High School or Club Volleyball coaching experience encouraged, High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred), Valid CA license (Class C) and current insurance coverage, Safe driving record (will be asked to provide a DMV report)
• Knowledge/skills required/abilities: Ability to follow and uphold KIPP Esperanza policies and mission statement, Familiarity with sports rules and regulations, Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships, Ability to manage a class in a professional manner, Flexibility, reliability, punctuality, professionalism, enthusiasm, Strong communication and interpersonal skills, Access to reliable transportation, Ability to work independently and within a small team, Ability to coach athletes of different skill levels, Ability to lead practices 3 times a week and games 2 times a week

Pay

The hourly rate for this position is $20 per hour for a total of 175 hours for the season. Total pay is $3500 for the season if all hours are worked.

Schedule

This is a seasonal, temporary role (17.5 hours per week maximum for a 10 week season), reporting to the Athletic Director.
