Essential Functions
- Provide training programs, encouragement, and motivation to prepare athletes for competition.
- Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions daily and promote a culture of sportsmanship.
- Lead and manage all aspects of the NCAA Division I Cross Country/Track & Field men's and women's programs, including supervision and management of coaches and staff.
- Recruit high-caliber student-athletes who align with the university's academic and cultural mission.
- Organize and manage college and high school home track and field meets and cross country meets.
- When possible, host high-school camps for cross country and individual events for track and field.
- Work with your coaches to develop and implement a comprehensive training and competition strategy for each event group.
- Work closely with the strength coaches, athletic trainers, nutrition specialists and the sports psychologist.
- Engage in fundraising, alumni relations, and community outreach efforts.
- Manage the program budget responsibly and effectively.
- Work closely with your staff, compliance and academics departments to monitor the eligibility of student athletes and strive for full compliance with NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.
- Assign responsibilities to update school records and maintain school history for track and field and cross country programs.
- Maintain equipment and storage units to allow for organization and inventory accountability.
Education & Experience
- Minimum Qualifications: 4 Year / Bacehlors degree. Experience with successful coaching at the collegiate level (NCAA experience required; Division I experience preferred). Minimum 3 years experience. Strong knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance requirements. Experience in supervising staff and proven history of managing budgets. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Experience in Meet Management Commitment to student-athlete academic success.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree.
- Record of conference and/or national competitive success.
- Experience in fundraising and working with donors.
