About the Role
This is a full-time, at-will position reporting to the Director of Athletics. The Head Track and Field Coach supervises Assistant Coaches, Graduate Assistant coaches, Student Coaches, and Managers.
Responsibilities
- Award institutional funds and administer the program in compliance with William Penn University, NAIA, and HAAC regulations.
- Monitor and stay within the allocated budget while maintaining the scholarship average designated by the university.
- Lead recruiting and retention efforts for student-athletes, meeting recruitment goals set by the university.
- Attend Athletic Department meetings and coordinate travel plans with the Transportation Director.
- Serve as a positive role model for athletes and monitor discipline procedures within the sport.
- Coordinate and oversee an ethical recruiting process for student-athletes.
- Encourage and monitor student-athlete attendance and academic performance.
- Assist with annual inventory and conduct yourself professionally, displaying good sportsmanship at all times.
- Fulfill obligations for the NAIA Champions of Character initiative.
- Support staff, faculty, and administration while following the chain of command.
- Cooperate and communicate with the Training Staff.
- Assist with the supervision of other athletic events as needed by the administration.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Coaching experience required; college coaching experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams and exercise independent decision-making and good judgment.
- Strong critical thinking, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, frequent interruptions, and interaction with diverse groups.
- Organizational, time management, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
- Willingness to work long hours.
