Head Teller
About the Role
The Head Teller will drive a best-in-class branch experience for customers and teammates by leading, coaching, and managing in five primary areas of responsibility: customer engagement, service execution, operational excellence, leadership, and management. With a deep understanding of Renasant Bank policies and procedures and customer service standards, the Head Teller will role model, lead, and inspire the team to deliver exceptional service while maintaining sound operations. The role includes recognizing and referring sales opportunities, overseeing Teller and Senior Teller responsibilities, and serving in a leadership capacity for the branch when the Branch Manager or Assistant Branch Manager is unavailable.
Responsibilities
- Execute and coach the teller customer engagement process to ensure seamless service and sales opportunities.
- Maintain and role model service knowledge standards in line with regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Process customer transactions effectively, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payoffs, official checks, and more.
- Oversee daily operations such as balancing, ATM and vault management, supplies ordering, and branch capture procedures.
- Identify customer needs and refer them to the platform for additional needs-based conversations.
- Protect the bank from risk by adhering to compliance, risk, and operational procedures.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly branch assessments.
- Mentor and onboard new Tellers, ensuring all training is completed.
- Participate in interviewing, selecting, and training teammates.
- Supervise Tellers, provide override approval on transactions, and oversee daily balancing of teller drawers.
- Help lead sales, service, operational, and security meetings alongside the Branch Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Contribute to employee performance assessments, including disciplinary action planning and coaching.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college education preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of cash handling experience, with at least 1 year of successful teller experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of customer experience in a sales environment preferred.
- Proven track record in leadership, sales management, and coaching.
- Ability to drive individual and team sales and customer experience results.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong sense of teamwork and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail with a strong record of accuracy in transaction handling.
- Comfortable using a variety of technology software products to process transactions.
- Proven time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
- Ability to travel for training, development opportunities, and between branches as needed.
