About the role
The Head Start Teacher provides leadership in the classroom and carries out a developmentally appropriate educational program to meet the individual needs of each child and Illinois Early Learning Standards. The Teacher creates a positive learning environment where Head Start children gain the skills, knowledge, and attitudes that lead to future school success. Teaching staff ensure a supportive and welcoming environment daily, fostering a sense of safety for staff, families, and children.
Responsibilities
- Lead classroom activities and implement a developmentally appropriate educational program.
- Create a positive, engaging, and effective learning environment for children.
- Support the success and self-sufficiency of children and families.
- Maintain exemplary attendance and dependability.
- Practice civility at all times.
Requirements
- Ability to fulfill all DCFS requirements, including a physical and criminal background check.
- AA or BS in Early Childhood Education.
- Passion for children and families.
- Creativity in developing a positive classroom environment.
Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to support children’s learning in an engaging and fun way.
Pay
- Starting hourly wage (Depending On Qualifications):
- $19.58 - $20.60 (CDA)
- $20.60 - $21.64 (AA)
- $25.76 - $26.79 (BA)
- $27.73 - $28.76 (MS)
Schedule
Full-Time/Year-Round (51 weeks), Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
