Head Start Teacher

About the role

The Head Start Teacher provides leadership in the classroom and carries out a developmentally appropriate educational program to meet the individual needs of each child and Illinois Early Learning Standards. The Teacher creates a positive learning environment where Head Start children gain the skills, knowledge, and attitudes that lead to future school success. Teaching staff ensure a supportive and welcoming environment daily, fostering a sense of safety for staff, families, and children.

Responsibilities

• Lead classroom activities and implement a developmentally appropriate educational program.
• Create a positive, engaging, and effective learning environment for children.
• Support the success and self-sufficiency of children and families.
• Maintain exemplary attendance and dependability.
• Practice civility at all times.

Requirements

• Ability to fulfill all DCFS requirements, including a physical and criminal background check.
• AA or BS in Early Childhood Education.
• Passion for children and families.
• Creativity in developing a positive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to support children’s learning in an engaging and fun way.

Pay

• Starting hourly wage (Depending On Qualifications):
• $19.58 - $20.60 (CDA)
• $20.60 - $21.64 (AA)
• $25.76 - $26.79 (BA)
• $27.73 - $28.76 (MS)

Schedule

Full-Time/Year-Round (51 weeks), Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
