About the role
The Head Start Teacher (Lead Teacher) supports early childhood education programs to create positive outcomes for children and families.
Responsibilities
- Implements a child-centered curriculum and learning environment encouraging positive social interaction, active engagement, and self-motivation.
- Addresses challenging behaviors through observation, preventive measures, teaching new social and communication skills, and partnership with families.
- Uses observations and anecdotal notes to document children's progress and individualize curriculum.
- Creates partnerships with families to establish positive interaction patterns in program, school, and home.
- Provides classroom experiences that are developmentally, linguistically, culturally, and age-appropriate for children served.
- Develops a print-rich environment promoting literacy, numeracy, and social skills using increasingly complex language and problem-solving abilities.
- Plans daily lessons based on children's needs and interests, incorporating observations, anecdotal record keeping, and knowledge of early childhood development.
- Integrates Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with disabilities.
- Ensures a consistent classroom routine and provides supervision to ensure the safety and security of children at all times.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or equivalent coursework.
- Physical exam and background checks are required.
- Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
- A valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children ages 3-4 years old.
- Ability to observe and assess children's developmental levels and needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and educational practices.
- Ability to implement and adapt curricula to meet the needs of diverse learners.

$47,095 annually.
