Head Start Teacher Assistant

About the role

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis Inc. is seeking Teacher Assistants for its Head Start/Early Head Start program.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning and execution of classroom activities that promote individual developmental experiences for children.
• Ensure the health, safety, and personal welfare of assigned children.
• Promote parent involvement in the classroom.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of state regulations pertaining to child abuse and neglect.
• Ability to work well with staff, children, and parents.
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
• Ability to follow directions and take initiative.
• Maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

• A High School diploma is required.
• An Associate's Degree or Associates of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development is preferred.
• CDA certification is preferred.

Skills

• Successfully complete the Red Cross First Aid Certification and CPR certification.
• Obtain a Safe Food Handlers' certificate and update it as required.
• Possess a valid Driver's license.
