- 40 hours/week, approximately 42 weeks/year (summer layoff)
- Rate of pay during first 60-working day probationary period is $28.08/hour; post probationary rate of pay is $28.76/hour
About the Role
Motivated Head Start teachers improve the trajectory of children’s lives, including children’s learning outcomes, living standards, and later academic and professional success.
Responsibilities
- Serve as lead or co-teacher in an outcomes-oriented, team environment
- Provide safe, healthy, friendly, and developmentally appropriate environments and experiences for children ages 3– 5
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field and a current Vermont Agency of Education teaching license with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education
- Licensure with an additional endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education is preferred
- Knowledge and experience in developmentally appropriate early childhood practice, child outcome assessment, child behavior management, and curriculum planning, development and implementation
- A commitment to social justice and to working with families with limited financial resources
- Excellent verbal and written communication (bilingual abilities a plus), documentation, and record-keeping skills
- Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation
- Physical ability to carry out required tasks
