Head Start Preschool Assistant Teacher- AM at Bell Elementary
This position is part of the Lake Washington Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and follows the transfer process outlined in the SEIU Collective Bargaining Agreement. Internal candidates must meet posted qualifications and have at least six months in their current position to be eligible for transfer.

- 5.0 hours per day, 7:45 AM – 1:15 PM

About the Role
The Head Start Assistant Preschool Teacher assists the Head Start Teacher in delivering a quality, comprehensive early childhood education experience and select health services to preschool children and their families. The role encourages parental involvement in educational planning, goal setting, and center activities. The Assistant Teacher is responsible for supporting the daily preschool classroom program and ensuring compliance with all PSESD/Head Start requirements.
Requirements
- Associate's degree (AA) or higher OR
- Two years of study equivalent to 72 quarter credits OR
- Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment with a score of 461 or higher
- Additional Head Start-related requirements:
- CDA, ECE certificate, OR
- AA/BA/MA in any field and 25 ECE credits
- Initial health examination, including TB screening
- First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification within 90 days of hiring (must keep current)
- Complete Criminal History declaration form and fingerprinting
- Food Handler's permit within 90 days of hire (must keep current)
- Access to a personal vehicle with insurance coverage (unless employer provides vehicle) and a valid driver's license
