Head Saw Filer - Willamina

About the role

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, ethical, and candid, mirroring the Hampton values. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and will be responsible for leading the saw filing team.

Responsibilities

• Work with the filers and mill teams to identify opportunities for improvements and develop cost-effective solutions.
• Participate in the continuous improvement journey, focusing on waste elimination and quality assurance.
• Develop and maintain a saw QC verification and audit process to ensure consistent quality standards.
• Establish and share best practices related to saw filing techniques, work flow, and preventative maintenance.
• Develop the most cost-effective approach to saw and chipper knife maintenance without compromising product quality.
• Work closely with mills to troubleshoot complex sawing issues, quality control needs, and continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

• At least five years of head filer experience.
• Experience in a saw filing leadership role and hands-on filing experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• A current First Aid/CPR certification.
