Head of Trusts Solicitor

About The Role

The Head of Trusts Solicitor role in Suffolk offers a salary between £70,000 and £90,000 per annum. This full-time position operates on a hybrid remote working pattern.

Responsibilities

• Manage annual accounts, tax returns, HMRC compliance, and beneficiary requests.
• Provide proactive and strategic tax and trust compliance advice to clients.
• Lead the technical and advisory aspects of the role, supervise the team, and train T&T members and the wider Lifetime Planning department.
• Work with the French Property Team regarding UK individuals with French properties and assets.
• Advising clients on income tax, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax matters, including tax planning and mitigation.
• Prepare tax returns for private clients, including 60-day capital gains tax returns for residential property.
• Calculate tax liabilities and advise on tax payments under self-assessment.
• Finalize deceased individuals' lifetime tax affairs.
• Prepare annual trust accounts and self-assessment trust tax returns.
• Prepare tax deduction certificates for substantial client portfolios.
• Prepare Inheritance Tax forms as required for trusts.

Qualifications and Skills

• AAT, ATT, ACA, ACCA, or TEP qualification essential.
• Experience in tax and trusts accounting matters.
• Experience in complex estate and trust accounting.
• Knowledge and experience of UK taxation of individuals, estates, and trusts.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
