About the role

Lorum National Trust Bank is establishing a trust and fiduciary business and seeks a senior fiduciary officer to lead its development. The role involves building a trust function that meets OCC supervisory expectations from the outset and scaling it as the Bank grows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Bank's trust and fiduciary program: acceptance and administration of fiduciary accounts, prudent-investor oversight, and periodic account review
  • Own the control framework for custody and safekeeping of client assets, including key management and segregation between fiduciary and non-fiduciary custody
  • Represent the Bank's fiduciary function to the OCC: licensing, examinations, information requests, and remediation
  • Build and maintain the fiduciary policy suite, risk assessment framework, and conflicts-of-interest and self-dealing controls, consistent with 12 CFR Part 9
  • Advisory on fiduciary and custody implications before launch; run account monitoring and issue remediation
  • Report to the Board and senior management on fiduciary activity, risk, and exceptions
  • Define the target operating model for the trust function and build the team as the Bank scales

Success in the first 3 to 12 months

  • First 3 months: the trust and fiduciary function is stood up and operating as a real entity within the Bank
  • 6 to 12 months: day-to-day operations are compliant, well-controlled, and meeting OCC and Board expectations, with a clear view forming on the team needed for scaling

Ideal Candidate

  • Deep fiduciary expertise, with the flexibility to build something from scratch
  • A track record in a senior fiduciary seat (Chief Trust Officer, Head of Trust, Senior Fiduciary Officer, senior trust counsel, or equivalent)
  • Authoritative command of OCC supervisory expectations, 12 CFR Part 9, and fiduciary law, including the prudent-investor standard, custody and safekeeping, and conflicts of interest
  • Experience designing or strengthening a trust or fiduciary function: policies, controls, risk assessments, account review, remediation
  • Experience preparing fiduciary reporting for senior management and the Board
  • Comfortable operating in a matrix, balancing Bank-level accountability with Group alignment
  • High agency, low ego: ready to build in ambiguity, and to challenge the business when fiduciary duty is at stake

Nice to haves

  • Experience with a de novo bank, national trust bank, state trust company, or custody bank
  • Involvement in a bank charter application, licensing process, or pre-opening readiness program
  • Direct engagement with the OCC or another federal banking regulator
  • Familiarity with digital-asset custody, key management, or tokenized-asset and stablecoin operations
  • Experience within a three-lines-of-defense governance model
  • A relevant professional qualification (CTFA, CFTA, or a legal qualification)

Benefits

  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Private Healthcare
  • Employee stock ownership (ESOP)
  • Flexible working and autonomy
  • Pay it forward days - 2 annual days to volunteer for a charitable cause
  • Wellness days - 3 days every quarter to re-energize
