Head of Total Rewards & Global Mobility: Lead the Revolutionary Future of Equitable Compensation at Oxfam
Oxfam International is a global confederation working to end the injustice of poverty and inequality. The Head of Total Rewards & Global Mobility is a senior leadership pillar within the Global People Team. The mission is to ensure that Oxfam’s “Employee Value Proposition” (EVP) is not only competitive with the private sector but is also deeply rooted in social justice and pay equity. In 2026, the global mobility landscape is increasingly complex due to climate-driven migration, shifting tax laws, and the rise of “Digital Nomad” contracts. You will be the architect of a system that manages these complexities while ensuring that a staff member in Nairobi is rewarded as fairly and strategically as one in Oxford. This is a mission-critical role where your policies directly affect staff retention, morale, and the organization’s ethical standing.
Responsibilities
- Global Reward Strategy: Designing and implementing a unified “Total Rewards” framework that balances global consistency with local market realities.
- Pay Equity & Transparency: Leading revolutionary audits to eliminate gender and racial pay gaps across the confederation, ensuring “Equal Pay for Work of Equal Value.”
- Global Mobility Architecture: Managing the end-to-end lifecycle of international assignees, including tax equalization, immigration, and “Hardship” allowances.
- Benefits Innovation: Developing “Future-Proof” benefit packages that include mental health support, climate-emergency leave, and flexible retirement options.
- Executive Compensation: Advising the Board of Supervisors on senior leadership remuneration, ensuring it aligns with Oxfam’s public-sector values.
- Digital Integration: Overseeing the implementation of AI-driven HRIS modules to automate payroll, benefits enrollment, and mobility tracking.
Requirements
Education & Certification
- An advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Economics, or Law.
- Professional Certification: GRP (Global Remuneration Professional) or CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) is highly desirable for 2026.
Experience & Skills
- Professional Depth: 10+ years of progressive experience in HR, with at least 5 years leading Total Rewards or Global Mobility in a large, complex international organization.
- Analytical Mastery: Expert-level ability to interpret complex data sets and “Market Benchmarking” reports.
- Cultural Intelligence: Proven experience working in and leading teams within the Global South, with a deep understanding of local labor laws and economic contexts.
- Language: Expert fluency in English; proficiency in French or Spanish is a significant advantage.
Why Apply for This Position
Securing this leadership role in 2026 offers unbeatable professional status. You will be at the forefront of the most significant shift in humanitarian HR—moving away from “Expat-heavy” models toward Localized Leadership. You will experience a sense of purpose as you build systems that honor the dignity of every worker. The networking potential is immense; you will collaborate with Global HR Directors, Labor Economists, and Social Justice Advocates. Furthermore, the flexibility of being based in the Global South allows you to lead from the very regions where Oxfam’s impact is most felt.
Additional Information
This role is location-neutral, meaning you can be based anywhere Oxfam has a legal entity, with a strong preference for candidates based in the Global South. Candidates from Africa, Asia, and Latin America are strongly encouraged to apply.
