What You Will Do Everyday
The Head of Small Business Banking is responsible for establishing and leading the new Small Business Banking division. Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Vision & Execution: Set the strategic vision, roadmap, and operating plan for SMB Banking. Own the segment P&L and define market expansion strategies.
- Product Innovation: Revamp deposit product offerings, modernize payments, and deploy digital cash-flow tools. Lead the small-business lending function, overseeing systems and personnel.
- Customer Acquisition & Digital Strategy: Own the digital customer acquisition strategy and online lending funnel. Partner with Marketing and Virtual Branching to enhance digital brand positioning and onboarding processes.
- Data Strategy & Member Service: Build a data strategy for SMB segmentation and lifecycle management. Deploy AI-powered insights and train staff to use AI responsibly to deepen member relationships.
- Community Engagement: Serve as the face of Interra’s small business banking in local communities. Regularly engage with Main Street businesses, chambers of commerce, and local business associations.
How You Will Make An Impact
Key contributions include:
- Strategy & Leadership: Model hands-on leadership for your team, ensuring they are recognized as trusted advisors and partners to small business owners.
- Product Innovation: Lead product innovation across deposits and payments, revamping SMB deposit portfolios and modernizing payments.
- Lending Oversight: Provide strategic oversight and accountability for the small-business lending function, including credit policy, underwriting, and portfolio management.
- Digital Customer Acquisition: Own the digital customer acquisition strategy, improving conversion, time-to-decision, and digital brand positioning for SMB.
- Community Engagement: Serve as the face of Interra’s small business banking in local communities, regularly engaging with Main Street businesses, chambers of commerce, and local business associations.
Experience & Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
- 7-10 years of experience in deposit product management, small business lending, or business banking leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred skills include:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated knowledge of credit union regulations, products, policies, procedures, and services.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial and statistical data.
- Interpersonal skills to represent the credit union in a professional and positive way, both internally and externally.
- Exceptional level of commitment to the Interra mission, vision, and objectives.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to:
- Bend, sit, and stand for prolonged periods.
- Lift up to 10 lbs occasionally.
- Climb and descend stairs in an emergency situation.
- Operate routine office equipment.
- Work extended hours or travel off-site as required.
- Work in a climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
