About the Role

DNV Energy Systems’ Renewables and Power Grids is seeking a Head of Section, Measurements to enable Energy Systems to achieve its strategic ambitions. We need leaders who drive business operations to meet customers’ expectations while continuously improving the way we work. The Head of Section optimizes business operations and improves the long-term performance of the section. They work closely on commercial opportunities to strengthen and expand business, including driving a doer/seller culture. They direct service line activities and drive technical competence development within the Measurements practice aligned with Energy Systems strategy.

This role is based at our DNV offices in Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; San Diego, CA; Oakland, CA; Medford (Boston), MA; New York, NY; Dallas, TX; Austin, TX; and Houston, TX, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site.

Responsibilities

  • Build, implement, and maintain the Measurements and Testing business plan.
  • Ensure efficient and consistent delivery of services in line with customer expectations.
  • Optimize business performance through delivery management, cost-efficient business operations, improvement of the utilization rate, and an aligned workforce plan.
  • Drive innovation by proposing new improvements, tools, and business practices to further our leadership position in the industry.
  • Empower employees, foster professional growth and progression, and encourage employee retention through personnel evaluation processes, coaching, mentoring, and training.
  • Create a flexible workforce and automate workflows to deal with variable workload.
  • Build and strengthen a strong internal culture based on the company’s values.
  • Support the Head of Department in strategy and decision-making.
  • Stimulate a high-performing culture, set direction, and act as a role model to inspire employee experience.
  • Ensure employees have the required technical competences and own the pipeline for technical talent.
  • Promote team capabilities internally and externally.
  • Actively collaborate with Service Area Leaders and corresponding roles in other business lines to evolve the service portfolio and capture customer opportunities.
  • Own talent pipeline and development of technical talent/future needed capabilities.
  • Foster an inclusive culture where employees can grow, feel valued, and have a sense of belonging.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5+) years of relevant industry experience.
  • Three (3+) years of professional experience in Measurements, Power Curve Testing, or Resource Assessment.
  • Experience in managing a team, with the proven ability to develop a high-performing culture in a fast-paced, changing, and complex environment.
  • Proven leadership skills to engage, develop, and motivate employees.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written English communication and presentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field such as engineering or physical science.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, up to 25% of the time.
  • Five (5+) years of leadership experience with the ability to strategize, inspire, and achieve goals.
  • Two (2+) years in an innovation and/or product management role.

Pay

The range of starting pay for this role is $100,000 - $165,000 USD.

Schedule

This role follows a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site.
