Head of School, Alpha - $200,000/year USD
About the role
Alpha is opening a new campus in Springfield, MA and seeks a leader who already understands the local educational landscape. This is not a standard Principal position but rather a Head of School leading a team of 15+ Guides.
Responsibilities
Launch our Springfield, MA location: Execute Alpha's three core promises for 100+ students from the first day with operational precision across all functions.
Facilitate live workshops with K-8 students on life skills: Conduct dynamic one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback exchange. Apply Alpha's proven framework to ensure students develop skills overlooked by traditional schools while staying fully engaged.
Drive every student toward 100% goal achievement: Create personalized motivational strategies for each individual. Apply data-informed methods to address disengagement and sustain student interaction with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student meeting their objectives.
Develop Guides to peak performance and uphold Alpha's excellence standard: Leverage data to pinpoint performance shortfalls, provide concrete feedback, and monitor progress. Execute difficult decisions when standards are not met and model exemplary behavior as your campus's benchmark.
Execute data-informed campus leadership: Evaluate outcomes across personnel, operations, parent engagement, and campus culture. Identify challenges, perform root cause investigations, engage relevant parties, and deploy measurable interventions. Monitor all decisions and refine strategies according to outcomes.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field.
Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority.
Deep knowledge of the Springfield, MA education landscape. Experience working with youth ages 5 - 14.
Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch.
Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff.
Able to relate to K-8 students, understand their interests and culture, and serve as a positive role model.
Likewise, legally authorized to work in the United States.
Qualifications
Passionate about education and committed to improving the system, not maintaining it.
Experience in a startup environment or similar fast-paced setting.
Ability to lead and inspire a team of Guides.
Experience with EdTech platforms and student engagement tools.

$100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year.
