About the role

In 1851, a New York bookkeeper named George D. Lyman observed the same absurd ritual each afternoon: porters carried bags of coins and bundles of checks bank to bank down Wall Street, settling by hand, a fortune exposed to error and theft. Lyman's fix: send everything through one central office and settle the net. On October 11, 1853, in the basement of 14 Wall Street, 52 banks cleared $22.6 million in a single sitting. Money between banks had stopped being an event and became seamless infrastructure. A century and a half later, the hard part is unchanged: moving money once is easy; making it work every time, for hundreds of thousands of businesses, across every rail, is hard. The bank account is where a company's financial life happens - payroll clears or it doesn't; a wire lands or a deal slips; the month closes clean, or someone loses a weekend to it. Mercury is building a business banking product at a scale better than anything else in the market. Business Banking is the heart of Mercury. We're looking for a Head of Product to own it end-to-end: setting product strategy, leading a team of product managers, driving deposit and payment growth, and owning business performance.
