The Opportunity
The purpose of this role is to lead the strategic development, underwriting, and portfolio management of the North America Accident and Health Treaty business to achieve sustainable, profitable growth in alignment with the business plan.
Responsibilities
- Communicate direction of underwriting business plan to team in order to achieve delivery of business objectives
- Manage resource, motivate, develop and focus the team(s) to maintain required standards of performance and engagement
- Establish and strengthen strong relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally, including cedants and brokers
- Underwrite and delegate the Underwriting of Reinsurance risks to meet business objectives including:
- Negotiating rates, terms, and conditions for existing and new business
- Managing production and issue of contract certainty documentation
- Ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines
- Deliver on an annual business plan for the underwriting business area
- Monitor and report on progress
- Keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to be able to operate effectively
- Communicate risk appetites to underwriting teams, in accordance with the business plan
- Establish clear accountabilities and authority levels for direct reports and build a strong culture of performance and accountability to ensure delivery of goals
Qualifications
- Significant relevant reinsurance experience
- Experience leading teams
- Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Compensation Package
The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate’s professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE’s annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.
