Head of Logistics
About the role
The Head of Logistics oversees and optimizes logistics operations for a manufacturing site with multiple warehouses and a shipping/receiving hub. The role involves managing a team responsible for receiving, shipping, and warehousing activities across multiple sites, ensuring inventory control processes are followed, and enabling seamless delivery of materials to the manufacturing floor. Additionally, the role contributes to the strategic vision by creating and executing plans to enhance logistics operations and support organizational growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the logistics team across multiple sites, ensuring efficient operations in receiving, shipping, and warehousing.
- Develop and implement inventory control processes to maintain accuracy and support production needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of materials to the manufacturing floor.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics operations and align with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Utilize SAP or other ERP systems to manage and monitor inventory and logistics processes effectively.
- Foster a culture of leadership, accountability, and communication within the logistics team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Business, or related discipline).
- 10-15+ years of extensive experience in logistics operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Deep knowledge and experience with SAP or other ERP systems for inventory and logistics management.
- Proven track record of driving operational excellence and strategic improvements in logistics.
