Head of Facilities
About the role
RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Head of Facilities to lead the company’s facilities function and serve as a strategic partner in delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable workplaces across the office portfolio. This leader will own the facilities operating model, ensure disciplined budget management, and drive service consistency, risk control, and workplace performance across all locations.
Responsibilities
- Lead all facilities and workplace operations across the company’s office portfolio, including New York, Chicago, Austin, and other regional sites.
- Ensure safe, compliant, and well-maintained workplaces with strong attention to life safety, business continuity, and risk management.
- Own the facilities operating model, including governance, service levels, escalation paths, reporting, and accountability.
- Manage annual operating and capital budgets, including forecasting, expense control, variance analysis, and spending discipline.
- Review, track, and manage facilities spend against budget, and ensure costs are aligned with business priorities.
- Oversee preventive maintenance, work order management, vendor performance, and issue resolution.
- Partner with senior office managers and business leaders to deliver consistent workplace support across locations.
- Use utilization, occupancy, and service data to inform space planning, portfolio decisions, and resource allocation.
- Support the company’s hub-and-spoke workplace strategy by helping optimize the footprint, reduce complexity, and improve utilization.
- Lead workplace standardization efforts across amenities, technology, service levels, and employee experience.
- Manage vendor relationships, service agreements, contract performance, and procurement-related processes.
- Advance sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency, reuse of assets, waste reduction, and smart-building practices.
- Build reporting routines to track performance, risks, costs, service quality, and progress against strategic goals.
- Lead, coach, and develop the facilities team and related office operations partners.
- Support relocations, consolidations, office openings, closures, and special projects as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in facilities management, workplace operations, real estate, or building operations. A minimum of 3 years in a leadership role is required, with experience leading multi-site office environments in a complex, matrixed organization. Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance operations, vendor management, and safety/compliance requirements is necessary. Demonstrated success managing operating budgets and capital spend with strong financial discipline is also required.

- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and partner effectively across the business.
- Experience supporting workplace strategy, space optimization, and change management preferred.
- Sustainability, energy management, or smart-building experience strongly preferred.
- Leadership competencies, including strategic leadership, financial acumen, operational excellence, risk and compliance judgment, stakeholder management, data-driven decision making, vendor and contract management discipline, change leadership, and team leadership and development.
