Job Summary
The company combines project development, financing, and long term asset ownership to deliver large-scale (50MW-500MW+) onsite solar, battery storage, cogeneration, and microgrid solutions. They are seeking a Head of Engineering to lead their engineering function.
About the Role
This remote US-based role reports into the C-suite and will own the engineering strategy, standards, execution, and team leadership. The Head of Engineering will lead internal project engineers and external engineering partners while serving as the senior technical voice across development, EPC, interconnection, project finance, construction, operations, and customer-facing discussions.
Responsibilities

Leading and developing a team of project engineers and engineering contractors across a growing distributed energy portfolio

Setting engineering standards, processes, and design requirements for high-voltage, medium-voltage, and low-voltage distributed energy projects

Overseeing design and modeling from concept through commercial operation, ensuring projects are bankable, constructable, maintainable, and optimized for cost and performance

Reviewing and approving technical deliverables across solar, battery storage, and microgrid projects

Partnering closely with Development, EPC, Asset Management, O&M, HSEQ, Finance, and executive leadership to ensure strong technical alignment across the full project lifecycle

Serving as the senior technical authority supporting customer, utility, AHJ, regulatory, project finance, and investment committee discussions

Driving continuous improvement across engineering workflows, tools, standards, root cause analysis, and long-term asset reliability
Requirements

B.S. in Engineering, ideally Electrical Engineering; M.S. or PE strongly preferred

10+ years of progressive engineering experience across large-scale (30MW-100MW+) distributed energy, power generation, utility-scale renewables, solar, storage, or microgrid projects

Deep technical understanding of electrical infrastructure, interconnection, permitting, codes, and regulatory requirements across multiple markets / ISOs

A track record delivering solar, BESS, microgrid, or distributed generation projects from design through construction and operation

Strong communication skills with customers, utilities, EPCs, financiers, executives, and internal project teams

Exposure to adjacent technologies such as EV charging, fuel cells, wind, cogeneration, long-duration energy storage, or broader microgrid systems is a plus
Qualifications

Technical expertise in electrical infrastructure, interconnection, permitting, codes, and regulatory requirements

Experience managing large-scale distributed energy projects from concept to commercial operation
