About the role
The Head of Communications at SCIEX is a business leader responsible for driving brand preference and business impact through strategic communications. This role oversees the integrated external and internal communications plan for SCIEX, serving as the go-to strategic partner for the SCIEX President and leadership team. You will lead a communications team delivering initiatives for SCIEX while contributing to Danaher’s life sciences platform. The position reports to the VP of Life Sciences Communications and is based in Marlborough, MA, requiring on-site performance.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a business leader and trusted strategic partner for the SCIEX President and leadership team, providing senior communications counsel.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive integrated communications strategy for SCIEX, in partnership with Marketing and HR, to drive brand preference, scientific leadership, and associate engagement.
- Develop and implement a leadership communications strategy for the SCIEX President to drive thought leadership and engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead change communications strategy and execution for SCIEX initiatives, including building advocacy for change and coaching leaders and people managers.
- Provide strategic counsel and rapid response capabilities for SCIEX-level issues to mitigate risk and protect brand equity, including crisis protocols and scenario planning.
- Establish robust metrics linked to business outcomes and brand preference to measure the impact of communications initiatives.
- Lead, inspire, and empower a high-performing communications team using advanced technologies, including AI, to drive business impact and foster a culture of excellence.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive experience in communications, marketing, or a related field, preferably in diagnostics, life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare sectors.
- At least 10 years of leadership experience, including coaching leaders, managing execution through others, and leading teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven success in executive thought leadership, corporate communications (including product, science, and technology communications), and associate engagement.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and ability to influence stakeholders through composed, authoritative, and authentic behavior.
- Robust business acumen with strong financial and commercial understanding to translate business priorities into high-impact communications strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage data and insights to measure impact, solve business problems, and inform decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- Crisis and issues management experience in regulated industries.
- Change management strategy and execution experience.
- Use of technology and AI to optimize communications activities, with an understanding of team structure and capabilities.

Pay
The annual salary range for this role is $135,000–$195,000, with eligibility for bonus/incentive pay.
