About the role

The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications is a strategic individual contributor responsible for shaping and elevating how SCIEX is represented externally. This role owns and advances SCIEX’s external communications strategy, including corporate narrative development, media engagement, and executive thought leadership. You’ll partner with senior leaders across marketing, R&D, and the business to translate priorities into compelling stories that resonate with media, customers, and the scientific community.

This position reports to the Head of Communications, SCIEX, and is based in Marlborough, MA, with onsite job performance required. For qualified internal candidates, remote or non-posted site considerations may be available based on business needs and company policy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the corporate media relations and executive thought leadership strategy to support the SCIEX corporate narrative and drive brand preference.
  • Develop and implement the external communications strategy for the SCIEX product portfolio and scientific areas, including product press releases and scientific thought leadership, aligning with business strategy and partnering with R&D and Marketing.
  • Translate business priorities and scientific innovation into compelling external corporate narratives and messaging for media and key stakeholders.
  • Manage media inquiries, cultivate relationships with key media contacts, and oversee engagements with communications agency partners.
  • Measure the performance and impact of external communications activities against key metrics, translating insights into actionable results and optimization of future initiatives.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications and media engagement, including product, science & technology communications, and thought leadership, preferably in diagnostics, life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills with a strong eye for detail, alongside strategic, analytical, and planning abilities, and a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Hands-on experience using technology and AI to optimize communications tasks, such as drafting messaging, developing press releases, analyzing media coverage, and conducting media research.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage data and insights to measure the impact of thought leadership and media activities and optimize future initiatives.

  • Experience in crisis and issues management within regulated industries.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to project confidence and influence others.
  • Business acumen to translate business priorities into high-impact communications strategies.

Pay

The annual salary range for this role is $125,000–$165,000. This role is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
