About The Role

The Head of Communications will develop and lead Paxos' comprehensive communications strategy, integrating executive, corporate, policy, internal, and product narratives into a cohesive story. This leader will oversee media and press relations, internal communications, and executive communications, ensuring Paxos regains its strong presence in key financial and crypto outlets. They will also serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team, shaping narratives and decision-making processes related to communications strategy and execution. Additionally, they will utilize AI tools and systems to enhance content development, research, and measurement, and direct and coordinate external agencies and cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality, regionally appropriate communications.

What You’ll Do

• Define and execute a long-term, global communications strategy that aligns executive, corporate, policy, internal, and product narratives.
• Lead media and press relations, including proactive storytelling and responsive reputation management, to re-establish Paxos in key financial and crypto outlets.
• Own company-wide internal and executive communications, collaborating with existing internal comms and marketing teams, especially for high-stakes, regulated topics and major company milestones.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the CEO and executive team, shaping narratives, recommendations, and decision-ready options on communications strategy and execution.
• Use AI tools and systems to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of content development, research, and measurement.
• Direct and coordinate external agencies, advisors, and cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality, on-message communications across regions and time zones.

About You

• 12+ years of experience in communications, with a focus on senior leadership roles, particularly in tech, fintech, or financial services; experience in crypto and blockchain is preferred but not required.
• Proven experience across multiple comms sub-functions (executive, corporate, policy/regulatory, internal, product), with a clear depth in at least one area and comfort overseeing all functions.
• Track record of managing press and media relations and defining and executing plans to re-establish a company's brand in key media and industry forums.
• Experience working closely with C-level leaders as a trusted extension of their voice.
• Experience at fintech companies or banks, ideally with the last several years at a crypto-native or crypto-forward company (e.g., Coinbase, Circle).
• Strong relationships or demonstrated ability to build relationships with relevant finance/crypto reporters and outlets, operating across US and international markets.
• A confident, extroverted, and humble personality with strong discussion and recommendation skills.

Nice To Have Qualifications

• Direct experience in crypto-native companies (e.g., Coinbase, Circle) where you helped build a strong brand and media footprint.
• Prior work closely tied to regulatory or policy communications, especially in Washington DC or other major regulatory hubs.
• Experience building or significantly scaling a comms function, including hiring and managing internal teams and agencies.
• Background in payments, fintech, or TradFi with strong connections into finance reporters and publications covering both finance and crypto beats.

Compensation Range: $202,000 - $232,050
