About the role

Piper Companies is seeking a Head of Biostatistics to lead its biostatistics function and drive the delivery of high-quality statistical support across clinical development programs. Reporting to the Head of Data Science, this leader will partner with executive leadership, clients, and cross-functional teams to execute strategic initiatives, support business growth, and ensure operational excellence. This is a fully remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the biostatistics strategy in alignment with organizational goals and industry advancements, including adaptive trial designs, real-world evidence, advanced analytics, and emerging AI-driven methodologies.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for biostatistics operations, including resource planning, project delivery, quality management, and team development.
  • Partner with Business Development and Commercial teams to support proposals, client presentations, bid defenses, pricing discussions, and growth opportunities.
  • Lead and mentor a multi-regional biostatistics team, fostering collaboration, professional development, and a high-performance culture.
  • Serve as a senior client contact and trusted advisor, supporting strategic partnerships and representing the organization at industry events, conferences, and external forums.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards, including FDA, EMA, PMDA, and ICH guidelines, while maintaining a strong focus on quality and risk management.

Requirements

  • PhD or MSc in Biostatistics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • 15+ years of progressive biostatistics experience within CROs, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading biostatistics teams and overseeing complex clinical development programs.
  • Strong operational leadership skills with experience managing resources, budgets, and organizational priorities.
  • Executive or senior leadership experience with significant client-facing and business partnership responsibilities.
  • Deep understanding of clinical research, drug development, regulatory requirements, and global clinical trial operations.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic decision-making skills.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $275,000 – $340,000/year (USD)
