About the role
Under supervision of a higher-level professional nurse, incumbents of this position are responsible for the planning of nursing care, staff development, staffing patterns, implementation and maintenance of standards of practice, departmental philosophy and overall hospital objectives, on a 24-hour basis.
Responsibilities
- Plan nursing care

- Establish staffing patterns
- Implement and maintain standards of practice
- Uphold departmental philosophy and overall hospital objectives
- Coordinate services provided by other departments to the nursing unit
- Provide consultation to other nursing and health care professionals in the area of specialization
- Exercise supervision over professional, para‑professional, clerical and clinical support staff
Requirements
- Possess a valid license and current registration as a Registered Nurse issued by the New York State Education Department
- Either: three years of nursing experience including regular charge assignments; or a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing plus two years of nursing experience including regular charge assignments
Schedule
Work is subject to shift assignment over a 24‑hour, 7‑day per week period.
