About the role

The Head Golf Professional at Trilogy at Verde River Ranch is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Golf Shop staff, Guest Services staff, and coordinating with the Director of Golf to provide exceptional service and meet financial goals.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate the core values and mission of BlueStar Resort & Golf (BSRG) to support the achievement of company goals.
  • Support the Director of Golf and the operations team in the planning process for capital projects and the annual budget.
  • Maintain effective communication between all team members regarding course operations and human resources issues.
  • Recognize and celebrate team member's success and mentor staff development.
  • Meet with staff at all levels to develop a common vision for the future and encourage engagement with current initiatives.
  • Oversee all tournament operations.
  • Help establish operating procedures and goals and support the budget creation process.
  • Monitor the budget to assure revenues and expenses are meeting the department’s financial goals.
  • Work with the management team to implement innovative products and programs that exceed market expectations and ensure the Club is positioned to stay ahead of the competition.
  • Interview, hire, supervise, and coach staff members. Provide performance appraisals, disciplinary actions if needed, and suggestions for succession planning.
  • Create the staff schedule, assign tasks, and at times, performing activities of workers supervised.
  • Train and develop team members in golf operations, tournament organization and execution, merchandising, and proper check-in procedures.
  • Guide apprentices in their pursuit of Class A Membership and BSRG certifications in succession planning.
  • Provide teaching support to the Head of Instruction as needed.
  • Respond to inquiries and concerns from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Aid in establishing and managing purchase order programs, department checkbooks, contribution reports, and budgets for all operations at the golf course property.
  • Review weekly and monthly contribution reports for each operation.
  • Attend exhibitions, buying shows, tournaments, and educational seminars to keep current with development in the golf industry, as required.

Qualifications / Skills

  • PGA membership or in the process of obtaining is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Three to five years’ experience in a related field, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Current First Aid, CPR/AED certification, and other safety certifications, as required by the Club.
  • Computer literate with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Video analysis experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages.
  • Must possess basic computational ability as well as budgetary analysis.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of members and guests, team members, and the public.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal—attention to detail, accuracy and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate initiative, with an ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.
  • Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
  • This position requires a flexible schedule to include early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as well as occasional travel.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required.
