Torreon Golf Club, located in Show Low, AZ, is part of Troon, a global leader in golf and community management. This role oversees and maintains all facets of the golf operation while providing leadership, training, and professional support to staff.

About the role

As Head Golf Professional, you will contribute to a fast-paced, hospitality-focused property organization. You’ll work closely with the Superintendent and Food & Beverage Manager to ensure seamless operations and a high-quality golf experience for members and guests.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee golf operations including tournaments, rules, tee sheet activity, merchandise inventory, range operations, player service operations, and cart fleet; may assist with supervising Food and Beverage operations.
  • Assist in developing and tracking the budget and business plan; control expenses in relation to revenues.
  • Create a customer service-oriented atmosphere that promotes the game of golf and meets member needs.
  • Ensure associates provide a high level of customer service.
  • Prepare work schedules, assign responsibilities, and perform payroll tasks while monitoring hours to maximize productivity and minimize overtime.
  • Provide leadership and vision to golf staff, fostering career advancement through training and development.
  • Offer golf instruction through lessons and clinics to members and guests.
  • Manage department members, including Assistant/Associate Golf Professionals, Teaching Professionals, Tournament Coordinator, and Guest Services Attendants.
  • Conduct interviews, hiring, training, performance evaluations, and address associate complaints or disciplinary issues.
  • Implement and maintain excellent service standards to achieve guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor business volume forecasts and plan accordingly for manpower, productivity, costs, and expenses.
  • Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university; or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (multi-course facilities may require more experience).
  • Class A member of PGA/LPGA.
  • Ability to read and speak English to communicate with customers and co-workers and understand equipment manuals.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with computerized POS and tee time systems.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly stands, walks, and sits; occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls, or crouches.
  • Frequently uses hands, reaches with hands and arms, talks, or hears; occasionally tastes or smells.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather); frequently works in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
