Responsibilities
- Trains and supervises assistants, outside staff, and shop staff in cooperation with Human Resources.
- Completes employee evaluations in a timely manner and coordinates processes with Human Resources.
- Implements company and departmental policies and procedures; schedules regular staff meetings.
- Oversees all golf services and operations, including golf-related purchasing, cart maintenance and usage, tee-time reservations, starting and monitoring play.
- Enforces all rules and regulations governing golf course usage.
- Coordinates golf operations with the Golf Course Maintenance Department and maintains a close working relationship with the Golf Course Superintendent.
- Reviews and reports financial variances at the end of each period.
- Develops, in coordination with the VP of Golf, the annual operating budget and business plan.
- Develops and manages an innovative tournament program that services all customer segments.
- Maintains and oversees, in coordination with the Director of Retail, a profitable merchandise concession consistent with patron demographics and needs.
- Establishes retail sales goals and forecasts with the Director of Retail and monitors and analyzes reports.
- Supervises physical inventories and the display of merchandise; assists in developing systems to safeguard inventories.
- Implements cash and systems controls to ensure the safekeeping of assets, inventory, and resources.
- Oversees and approves all weekly golf staff time sheets, payroll, purchase orders, and invoices.
- Oversees the preparation of reports required by the VP of Golf.
- Oversees, monitors, and promotes the development of assistant golf professionals in the PGA PGM program.
- Thinks innovatively regarding day-to-day operations and presents new operational ideas to the VP of Golf.
- Works closely with lodge partners to ensure an exceptional experience for all guests.
- Updates bulletin boards with current information.
- Plays with membership and maintains competitive-level golf skills.
- Instructs junior clinics and other clinics as necessary.
- Actively demonstrates, encourages, trains, and models safety rules and guidelines in accordance with company, OSHA, EPA, DNR, and other state and federal law requirements.
- Demonstrates and documents safety training and orientation for all employees.
- Investigates loss-producing incidents and reviews prevention recommendations with all employees.
- Takes personal responsibility for safety every day.
Requirements
- PGA member for at least 3 years.
- 3-5 years of management experience.
- Customer service, training, and supervision of staff, fiscal experience, and tournament organization skills.
- 10 or more years of experience in the business (under P.G.A. requirements) preferred.
- PGA PGM Completion (or business school) required.
- PGA seminars preferred.
- Ability to motivate and lead staff.
- Excellent computer skills.
