Paraprofessional stipend position reporting to the Principal/School Athletic Director. Employment is on an as-needed basis, subject to annual review and reappointment based on the principal's recommendation. Stipend follows the adopted Oldham County Schools Extra-Curricular Sponsor Stipend Schedule.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
  • 64 semester hours (minimum) of college credit; or completion of approved KHSAA professional development training as specified in Bylaw 27.
  • Must meet age requirements as specified by KHSAA.
  • Must pass a criminal records check as required by Kentucky State Law.
  • Successful completion of first aid course, CPR certification, and any other applicable training requirements as specified by KHSAA Bylaw 27.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sporting rules, regulations, and guidelines.

Skills

  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of various sports.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assistant coaches for one or more sports.
  • Assist in promoting sports within the school and community.
  • Support the Principal and/or Athletic Director in planning the athletic program.
  • Organize and supervise practices.
  • Teach individual fundamental skills, team strategy, and rules and regulations of the game.
  • Promote good sportsmanship and self-control among student athletes.
  • Ensure eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent.
  • Provide a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude, and general guidance to student athletes.
  • Conduct learning experiences with small groups of student athletes.
  • Assist in recommending the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of student athletes.
  • Demonstrate loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of Oldham County Schools.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
