Head Football Coach

About the role

Oberlin High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head Varsity Football Coach to lead and oversee all aspects of the high school football program. The head coach will be responsible for building a competitive program that emphasizes sportsmanship, character development, academic success, and positive relationships with students, families, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead all aspects of the varsity football program.
• Develop practice plans, game strategies, and player development programs.
• Supervise and coordinate with assistant and sub-varsity coaches to ensure alignment throughout the program.
• Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, discipline, leadership, and academic accountability.
• Organize off-season conditioning, summer programs, and skill development opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with all school district, conference, and OHSAA rules and regulations.
• Maintain communication with players, parents, school administration, and the athletic department.
• Assist in the supervision and management of equipment, uniforms, and facilities.
• Support and encourage multi-sport participation when appropriate.
• Represent the school and athletic department in a professional and positive manner.

Qualifications

• Previous football coaching experience required; head coaching experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain a successful program.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field.
• Must meet all state and district coaching certification requirements (including Pupil Activity Permit and required safety trainings).
