Head Custodian

About the role

Faribault Public Schools is seeking a full-time Head Custodian for the Nerstrand location. The ideal candidate will oversee the cleanliness and safety of the Nerstrand location, leading a team of custodians and ensuring a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The Head Custodian will play a key role in maintaining the high standards of our school environment and ensuring the smooth operation of the Nerstrand custodial team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of custodial staff.
• Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing all areas of the school.
• Identify and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
• Assist with and supervise the setup and teardown for school events or activities as needed.
• Adhere to and enforce health and safety regulations and school policies.
• Secure the building at the end of the shift, ensuring all doors and windows are locked.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Reliable and able to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, standing for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• 2nd Class C Boilers License or ability to obtain.
• Valid Minnesota driver’s license.

Schedule

6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
