About the role

Worcester Wolves is seeking an experienced and ambitious Head Coach to lead Worcester Wolves Wheelchair Basketball and the High Performance Partnership with British Wheelchair Basketball (BWB). You will work with a talented group of elite Paralympic athletes, emerging talent, and student-athletes to shape a high-quality performance environment where athletes are supported to develop, perform, and succeed.

At the heart of Worcester Wolves Wheelchair Basketball, you will lead an integrated coaching and performance support team, collaborating closely with British Wheelchair Basketball and colleagues across the University to deliver an ambitious, inclusive, and athlete-centered program. As Head Coach, you will provide leadership and direction, overseeing performance planning, training, competition preparation, and long-term athlete and team development.

A key part of the role will be working closely with BWB's performance team to optimize the development of GB Podium and Academy athletes while creating clear opportunities for emerging and student-athletes to progress. This role extends beyond courtside coaching—it is an opportunity to influence the development of athletes, coaches, and the wider program while playing a pivotal role in strengthening the partnership with British Wheelchair Basketball.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an integrated coaching and performance support team to deliver a high-quality, athlete-centered program.
  • Provide leadership and direction for performance planning, training, and competition preparation.
  • Collaborate with sport science, medical, and performance support practitioners to ensure coordinated athlete support.
  • Work closely with British Wheelchair Basketball’s performance team to develop GB Podium and Academy athletes.
  • Create progression opportunities for emerging and student-athletes.
  • Shape the long-term development of athletes, coaches, and the wider program.

Schedule

This is a part-time, fixed-term appointment of 12 hours per week until 30 June 2027.

If not already an employee of the University of Worcester, the appointed candidate will be employed through Uniworc Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary, and automatically enrolled into the Aviva FlexHE defined contribution pension scheme (subject to earnings and eligibility criteria).

Note: This post does not meet the minimum salary requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route. Applicants requiring sponsorship to work in the UK cannot be considered.
