About the Role
Tasked with managing and overseeing all aspects related to the operations of the UNC Pembroke sport program. Additional administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Responsibilities
- All phases of coaching a Division II softball program, including compliance, recruiting, budget management, academic and athletic outcomes
- Hiring and supervising assistant coaches
- Interaction with campus and community constituent groups
- Program management, fundraising, planning and scheduling practices, facility set-up, games, transportation, and meals
- Public relations
- Teach the equivalent of 6 credit hours per semester (Kinesiology/Athletic Administration classes or athletic observations)
- Attend reappointment conference with both the Kinesiology Department Chair and Athletic Director
- Administer evening study hall sessions throughout the fall and spring semester:
- Ensure a conducive environment for study
- Monitor attendance via BraveCard swipe-in/out
- Connect students with applicable resources (Writing Center, Tutoring, Tutor.com)
- Provide career workshops and assist with academic outreach efforts
- Study hall hours (subject to change):
- Sunday: 3pm–6pm
- Monday–Thursday: 5pm–8pm
Requirements
- Master’s degree required
- Significant knowledge of and demonstrated success in coaching softball
- Excellent teaching and motivational skills
- Ability to work effectively in an academically demanding institution
- Must abide by all NCAA Division II and institutional policies
